Your Transmission

If you think you have a transmission problem because your car does not move, call us to have it towed for free. If it does drive but not act properly, call us to determine if it is safe to drive to our shop or have it towed.

When transmissions have a problem or even if they appear not to have a problem but the check engine light is on indicating a transmission code, it is not wise to continue to drive the vehicle until it is diagnosed by a professional. By driving your car with a transmission problem, a small problem can soon become a large, very expensive problem in only a few miles of driving.

Once your car is at our shop, we can begin to find out if the problem is in the transmission and what exactly is causing the problem.

If, through external diagnosis, we determine that there is an internal problem, we will have to remove and disassemble your transmission. This is where the $844.38 price comes in. It covers towing, parts and labor to remove, disassemble and inspect the transmission for diagnosis.

When we get authorization from you to continue with an internal inspection, we can then let you know exactly how much it will cost for all repairs to your car to get your transmission back to proper working order.

Sometimes a faulty TCM can cause internal damage to your transmission and may need to be reprogrammed or even replaced. These costs are extra. Sensors, solenoids and hard parts are also additional to the price of a rebuilt transmission.

Each vehicle has a completely different set of transmission parts, electronic parts and systems. There is no way to guess at the cost for repairs because of the variety of systems between each of the makes and models and even between those differences of the same models.

There are even substantial differences in transmission fluids in the past twenty years. Costs vary greatly between petroleum and synthetics, and between manufacturers. Prices for fluids range from $5 per quart to $35. Most European transmissions, mainly VW and Audi, use special fluids which are some of the most expensive in use today.

Chances are that you may not have a serious transmission problem at all.
